Review: 2NE1- Falling In Love

After all this time, ladies, I'm still falling in love with you.

Ever since the release of "Bubble Pop" by Hyuna two years ago (time flew), I've never found another K-pop song that was my summer jam. Until now.

2NE1 never disappoints by always constantly changing their sound and I think that's why they are at the stage they are at now after having only debuted in 2009.

Falling in Love is a light hearted song with a reggae melody that still has the fire that 2NE1 has always possessed since their debut. This is emphasised by CL's rap however it's the same old same old as we know she has the flow that makes her one of the best rappers in the K-Pop industry. Another thing I like is the fact that Minzy seems to have taken the role of lead singer, if you watch most of their unplugged or live performances, Minzy can hold her own better than Bom or CL in my opinion.

I'm also digging the styling in the music video, maybe not the coloured contact lenses but everything else goes perfectly together. If my hair could look as healthy as CL's, I would be a happy child. Dara's blonde locks are beautiful and Bom and Minzy's hair is just a knockout.

Papa YG, you never fail to impress me.

Thanks for stopping by!

Review: First Love- After School

Get funky, get down- off the pole for health and safety's sake.

I gotta commend the ladies' attempt at the art of pole dancing, I must admit, despite it's sexual connotations, pole dancing is bloody hard.

Being the goddess Nana is, bless her heart. She shows the toil of daily practice on her body from the bruises she got for this comeback. Not only that, Lizzy has broken her ankle and Raina has injured her wrist leaving only six to be able to actually perform on the pole.
So before any of the slut shaming, take into the account the sheer work it took just to be able to hold themselves up on the pole, and to do it so flawlessly too after a mere six months!

Other examples of this would be Ga-In in her song Bloom.

Now song wise, I was disappointed.
It is just an odd song I can't seem to get into. Especially from the background noise of scratching and the constant "Get funky, get down" which just takes away from the lyrics and the meaning of the song. If only the Brave Brothers stopped throwing in the odd "hey" every now and then. A girl can dream. I think it just detracts from the beauty of the music video and the simplicity and grace of the song. Shame on you Brave Brothers.

I do have a chuckle at reading the description on Loenent:
"The punk and groovy sound shows the sentimental and sad voice colors of After School that has never been shown before"

I just think the groovy and "punk" has been mismatched greatly. This can be shown in the cray styling they have going on. I usually consider first love stories to be innocent and pure but the sets are so vivid it completely distracts the viewer (if they're not already distracted by the pole dancing spectacle).

One thing for sure, the girls of After School must have crazy core strength.

I still prefer Flashback.

Review: Girl's Day- Female President

  DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA *booty shakes*

I had hopes that this won't be about love and more about feminism but it's K-Pop, we leave that to 2NE1 or  Lee Hyori.

Whilst I wished it was different, I do like it! It's catchy and Girl's Day have consistently grown since their debut, yes we still have some cutesy- aegyo cuts but in this MV, it's not too prominent.

I also like the message of us girls leaving the coyness behind and just tell a guy you like him. Despite saying that, I doubt I'll be taking the ladies' advice to "come up to him and kiss him first" it's still pretty nerve wracking!

Ok let's talk about the MV.

STYLING
Unlike their other videos their solo shots don't have a unified styling and is more personal to them I guess. Though I doubt Hyeri chose to have masculine tailoring and I feel the stylists keep letting us down with Hyeri's styling. I blame the haircut.  Also I have a qualm about unnatural contact lenses and Yura's is really unnerving.

My favourite set of outfits had to be this one:
For one, I really really like Hyeri's dress on the far left, you all may think I may be biased towards her but I'm all for the vocalists, Sojin and Minah in the middle, here.

My not so favourite one had to be this:
Girl's Day Female President Hottest Moments 4

Yura honey, that's not a dress. Knowing cameramen on music shows, you wouldn't want your derriere on a 10 minute loop video on youtube, it's been done with Hwayoung from T-ara's nipples already.

DANCE
My favourite bit has to be just after the chorus with the booty wiggle that they do, I also like the salute that they do, that's very cool. I must say though, ever since "Don't Forget Me" I've found Girl's Day's dances easy to follow, yay.

I also love the use of silhouettes in any MV and from 2:54 onwards where they are on the stands, it just feels empowering. Also the scenes with Minah and Hyeri are similar to something that would happen in an AKB48 video, S.Korea, let's not go there please.

Gone are the days of autotuned aegyo from the Oh My God! era. Girl's Day may just have become my new favourite girl band.

Review: Give it to me - SISTAR

WAAA- WAA-WOOW

Ever since the giant hit that was "Alone" SISTAR have been consistently bringing out good songs and the girls have developed from booty popping ladies to more sensual and glamorous women. Gone are the days of bending over for no reason from their earlier releases and the girls have realised that less is more from their "Alone" promotions.

Their comeback has actually surprised me but I love the concept. The Moulin Rouge set and the release of the inner sexy diva just makes the music video worthwhile to watch.

For once I am happy with the styling of the girls, especially Bora. The girl can rock anything.

The dance is an absolute joy to watch and we'll probably find a few covers up soon.

Like I said earlier, the girls have come far. For example instead of having Hyorin sing every line, Dasom and Soyou can hold their own against the powerhouse that is Hyorin. The girls have grown a lot and I think ever since "Alone", this has been my favourite release from the girls so far.

I really hope the girls have the same success for this song as they did with Alone.

Thanks for stopping by!

Is XOXO worth the wait?

Well it's better now than never.

After their extraordinary debut last year (in some good ways and some bad) the boys of EXO are back with their first full album which has been widely anticipated. But after the 27 teasers for their debut and the slow release of songs, did Exo come back stronger than ever?

In some ways yes.

Maybe SM slowed down promotions to teach both Exo K and M Chinese and Korean respectively. That's the only theory I've got because in comparison to their fierce rivals B.A.P, who have been kept in the public eye non stop, I think Exo has showed us that distance does make the heart grow fonder.

So now let's talk about the whole album~

Wolf- The title track, which I've reviewed already, is an utter mess. Like their debut song MAMA, it was a mish mash of clashing sounds and vocals. If you're listening to it for the first time it is quite overwhelming. After the climax of the song the rest of the song is forgotten because there's too much of the song to remember. It's a song that tries so hard to be hardcore with "strong" (mediocre) rapping whilst trying to seduce you with the highs and lows of the vocalists ranges.

Baby Don't Cry- This was a song featured on one of the 27 teasers. Whilst it was produced over a year ago, I am just so happy it has finally been released, it is a wonderful song and the short live performances of this song really did show the group's strongest points. Baekhyun, D.O, Luhan and Chen really captivated me as a listener with their vocals for this song. Chanyeol's rap is not overpowering and is a tasteful addition to the song. The melody is simple yet it carries the song through and makes the song such a delight to listen to. This is definitely one of my favourites from the album

Black Pearl- From the first verse I thought I wouldn't like it but the more I thought about it, if SM had given better thought to what the title track could be, I would choose this. It's a song that you could imagine would be performed well with slick choreography and the vocals aren't too in your face unlike the instrumental. Saying that, the instrumental isn't something out there or original but it's easy to listen to, unlike Wolf.

Don't Go-  If "Baby Don't Cry" made me tear up a little, this song made me smile. Just listen to it. It's just so lovely. For once I prefer the Korean version of this song but either way, the vocals in both the Korean and Chinese are just so lovely and it just makes you feel at peace.

Let Out The Beast - Another featured song in the many teasers. It was like a throwback from the mid-2000 boyband songs, which I liked. Personally, I'm not too crazy about the song, from the title you'd think it was Wolf 2.0 but you'll be pleasantly surprised that it isn't. At least this song isn't a mess, however it was a forgettable effort from the guys for me.

3.6.5- It's a very cutesy song okay, let's just leave it at that. I'm not a fan of cutesy.

Heart Attack- This is another favourite. I don't know why, but I definitely like it. For once autotune is used to add to the song and it has a nice effect. I'll probably be adding this to my morning commute playlist.

Peter Pan- Rumour has it that this song is the song for the drama music video that SM has been teasing us with. Apart from that, this song is one of those that is just nice to listen to. Some people have been complaining on the lack of Sehun or certain voices on the album, I'm surprised you Exo stans can tell! It took me three years to be able to work out who was who by ear for MBLAQ and SHINee. You guys are sure fast. I also have no qualms on the English pronunciations for this song. Woohoo.

Baby- I don't really know how to feel about this song. Like the rest of the album's fillers like Peter Pan and 3.6.5, it's pretty. But the chorus made me feel more inclined to listen to this again.

My Lady- From what I heard of the little snippet from the teasers, I thought this song would be my instant favourite. I was wrong. The most attractive and important part of the song was already showcased in the teaser. I like the fact it closes the album. After an overload of the prettiness, we have a nice slick jazzy closure. You can also just imagine Kai dancing to it whilst you listen to it. Heh.

Overall I liked XOXO, Exo shows what they can do well through songs like Baby Don't Cry and Black Pearl, my only complaint is the title song because it's trying to show us too much, like their previous effort with Mama which I also think was a bit too much. I hope that we do get to see performances of other songs in the album. It's not the best debut album but it is quite a strong showcase of talent and things can only go up. Hopefully they release a better title song next time. Fingers crossed.

Favourite Song:  Baby Don't Cry
Least Favourite Song: Wolf
Rating: 4/5

Review: Wolf- EXO

IS THIS WHAT TOOK A YEAR TO PRODUCE?!

EXO are back after a year with their first album XOXO (I see what you did there) and lo and behold! A feisty title track...which I'm very disappointed in.

Exotics, admit it, the song is a bit of a hot mess. From the lyrics to the mish mash of disjointed sound that makes it awkward, it's a song that's meant to woo the ladies into "forbidden love" with a beast but the odd autotuned "Saranghaeyo" is just so annoying, why is it there? That's not sexy at all Exo!

As with most standard SM videos, our darlings are placed in a box, from the teasers we're meant to have a drama version in which the wolves are let out and into the real world (hooray for drama videos!). Another thing is that for this round of promotions there isn't Exo-M or Exo-K, we just have Exo as all twelve perform together. One thing that does happen is that some members are sidelined for example Lay, Sehun, Suho and Xiumin. Kai doesn't get many parts but you still see him flinging his cornrows at the front. Despite this, I kind of like Exo performing as one, it's nice to see the Korean members' attempt of the song in Chinese and vice versa, it's cute.

One thing about this dance version of the music video is the dance itself. Ok, I get that the song is called Wolf and you have the whole "I'm a Wolf awooooo" line but you really do not need to keep emphasising that with the wolf ears move that actually looks like you're doing gwiyomi player... I just find some parts of the dance silly, but I guess the boys really got into playing wolves...just like how they kept on talking about their super powers.

I just can't wait till the full album drops because we get to hear this in full:

Meanwhile, I'll just leave you with my future husband Kris.

OK KRIS SPAM DONE.

Review: The Baddest Female- CL

GURL U SO BAD

So the baddest chick in Korea has finally made her solo debut and makes us "Do the Unnie".

First things off, I love the video, it reminds me of G-Dragon's "One of a Kind" with her backup dancers and the cross dressing. CL is the female counterpart of GD, all she needs now are t-shirts with "Do the Unnie" printed on them, et voila!

The latter part of the video has a nineties or holiday feel to it, and I like seeing CL around children, it's like the baddest female in Korea has a soft spot and shows a contrast from the CL we saw in the earlier part of the video when she bares golden fangs. I like that she's able to show herself in her music video, even with the many comparisons you can make with "One of A Kind".

The styling is colourful and of course, with a lot of Chrome Hearts jewellery and Jeremy Scott goods, I mean, how can she not have that, she's his muse! On a side note, there are cameos by Taeyang and GD (both with bad hair), why is GD not wearing any pants?

Though I may love the video, the song isn't what I expected from one of the best female rappers in Korea. Whilst some bits are definitely catchy, especially when we have to get down and do the unnie, I feel that this isn't up there with her releases with 2NE1 or with the releases of the YG Family. With a song that claims to define the "Baddest Female", CL definitely should've had a song that was stronger and more in-your-face.

Nevertheless, do the unnie, hey, do the unnie~

The Great Gatsby- Ain't No Party Like A Gatsby Party.

Oh Baz, old sport. What have you done.

Expect drop waist dresses to come into fashion again, Baz Lurhmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby features beautiful costumes and visual delights is finally out after it's delayed December release.

I must say, no matter how wonderful the visuals were, it also made me feel as if I've been drunk or on an acid trip. Funnily enough Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) had that same wide-eyed and drunken with glee expression throughout the film, even though he didn't drink as much as everyone in Jay Gatsby's (Leonardo Di Caprio) parties. Much of it was done on the green screen and it all just seems surreal and dream like. Then again the movie is narrated in retrospect as we open with Maguire in a madhouse as he is now a recovering alcoholic...according to Luhrmann. Whilst it may not be accurate to the novel, well since when were film adaptations ever were, I feel that Lurhmann made this film lacking in something.

Luhrmann's adaptation is superfluous with over the top parties and pageantry (which is an understatement, I wish I was rich enough to have parties like that) the amount of emotion in the story is weak against the frenzy of the surrounding environment. This lack of emotion makes the film feel like an empty dream that lasted a very very long 143 minutes.

Like I said, the costumes were fantastic, the cast was wonderful, however I felt that the way in which they were directed didn't allow for their talents to be used, especially Di Caprio, but come on, its Leonardo Di Caprio.

I MEAN LOOK AT THE OLD SPORT.

Now let's talk about the soundtrack. Oh Jay Z, why did you allow Mrs Carter to cover Amy Winehouse's Back to Black?! WHY?!

Whilst I appreciated the effort of adding a modern touch to a classic, I felt that the soundtrack was cringe worthy, you can't Charleston to dubstep, it just doesn't work. I think the only contributions to the soundtrack that I appreciated were from Lana Del Rey and Florence and the Machine. The soundtrack by itself is nice to listen to (except that cover of Back to Black which should never exist) but when you hear it with all the commotion on the screen, again it feels like an acid trip.

After watching it, a woman asked me how I felt after that screening and we both agreed that Gatsby, whilst being a headache inducing treat for the eyes, was not great.

Sorry, old sport.

Review: 2PM- A.D.T.O.Y

They would be my dream Chippendales team.  Just saying.

I'm not a big fan of 2PM but they are big enough stars in Korea that you're probably living under a rock as a K-Pop fan if you don't know them. I have to say this is instantly my favourite song by them- EVER. Their last release "Hand's Up" was a 5/10 from me but this. Oh. Hello boys.

The mv is so nicely done, it reminds me of what their female counterparts the Wonder Girls could've done for a sexy version of "Be My Baby"...if that was ever possible. I think in general I just love black and white music videos. Also the nice little plot where they all get played by a lady with very nice tattoos (which is me in the future btw (I wish)) nice, nice. The actual content, with the boys of 2PM frolicking in beds and almost having hot sex was very nicely done too.

The music soo matched the video (praise the lord) and the choreography was great. Except for that hip action that looks a bit too feminine, you know what I mean right? I just wish they would perform this live soon because I wouldn't mind watching it from Thursday to Sunday for four weeks. I'd be a very happy girl.

Whoever put a turtleneck on Chansung should just be fired.

Let me just keep listening to this gem till I get sick of it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Review: T-ara N4- Jeo Won Diary (Countryside Life)

Harlem shake anyone?

As with most T-ara videos, there's a drama version and a dance version. So in this post I will talk about the dance version. Watching the drama version will be quite worthwhile because the girls are actually quite comical whereas the dance version is what K-Pop fans are used to.

After the Hwayoung scandal, I think this is a nice way to get back up from T-ara's fall from grace, though there wasn't much anyway, just saying. Especially with Jiyeon's habit of deadfacing and constant line-up changes. I mean, wasn't Dani supposed to debut last year?

There seems to be a trend with K-pop where the videos have to be super saturated with colour. 4minute's recent video is just a nightmare for the colour blind and so is this one. It's made worse by the annoying editing that can cause epilepsy which reminds me of their "dance" video for "Day by Day". If I keep seeing choppy editing, I'm just gonna flip.

Like most T-ARA dances, they're fairly easy to remember and do. Well at least to some extent. I like the dance, it's just as fun as the dance for "Lovey Dovey" which had the shuffle. T-ara likes to take current dance trends, and in this release, we have the harlem shake. Nicely done ladies.

I love the outfits in this video except the basketball and leggings ensemble. I still can't get over that. I also like the song, but it's not amazing. I usually download T-Ara's songs because I can dance to it and pretend I'm a kpop star. That makes me sound sad... but it's fun!

Review: 4MINUTE- What's Your Name?

Zombies?! WHAT?!

First things first.
OH GOD HYUNA. YOU SEXY THANG YOU.

Now that's over, let's talk about Hyuna and 4minute.
This song is rubbish. End of review.
I'm joking.

So the lyrics (and the stupid plot of the video) describe 4minute's struggle to pick up guys (they have that problem?!) and the music video was completely ok till the zombies arrived.
1) Why are there zombies invading your music video? Save that for any releases during Halloween.
2) Why are you dancing with zombies. That shit ain't kawaii Hyuna my babes, stop.

Visually, I liked the video, the colours, the styling (especially Gayoon's) and the set. It felt like I was watching "I Got A Boy" by Girl's Generation because of the vivid colours used during the MV but the girls of 4minute made it their own.

Whilst Hyuna didn't have many parts to the song she did have a lot of screen time, I'm not complaining I love her and how she gyrates her booty on my screen but hey let the other girls have some screen time, you already have solos!

The Engrish has finally been sorted as Hyuna no longer says "PoMinit", the English is on point and the pronunciation is not bad.

Overall, despite the odd plot, its a good MV, just not a strong enough song in comparison to their past releases. I think if you wanted to get into 4minute, I suggest you listen to the songs below:

Review: Macklemore x Ryan Lewis ft Ray Dalton- Can't Hold Us

THAT BEAT.

This has been one of my favourite songs from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' album: "The Heist" because it is just so perfect to get you pumped up and ready to say "fuck you" to anything that tries to rain on your parade.

Watching the live performances of this song got me more pumped. Macklemore exerts so much energy in each performance that it seems like he drank red bull with his coffee. He just moves so much and gets so into his performance that as a viewer, I'm just left in awe.

This song also spotlights the talent that is Mr Ray Dalton. Even though in the performances he does seem awkward and meek, the guy can sing so just sit yo ass down.

The production of this video is elaborate and very dramatic, I don't think we'll ever be rid of those damn fur coats, but shit it was 99 cents (you see what I did there)! It is lively, and in true Macklemore style, quite random. I didn't enjoy the video as much as I did with Thrift Shop but I'll have a good laugh at anyone who tries to make a parody of the video. I mean, come on, I don't think you can find a camel around here.

You should also check out Neon Cathedral and Same Love from The Heist.
Hell just listen to the whole album.

Review: PSY- Gentleman

Well at least the dance is easier.

Following the success of Gangnam Style, Psy is back, showing us what a wonderful gentleman he is! NOT!
Seriously I had a good laugh at this video, but it's PSY, his videos are hilarious!

The song reminds me of Brown Eyed Girl's "Abracadabra" mixed with a super slow"Gangnam Style". If you watch "Abracadabra", you'll notice the hip dance is very similar.
Oh no wait, the hot short haired one in Brown Eyed Girls (Ga-In) is in Psy's video.

Now everything is clear, well done Psy. I liked how he brought back Abracadabra from like 2009, and then shared it with the whole world. For K-Pop fans this is like throwback heaven, I mean everyone at least danced to this song whilst drunk and thought they had snakehips. So kudos to Psy for exploding the Korean Pop Culture bomb to the western side of the world.

Now even if Psy makes funny mv's, the guy actually is a great commentator on Korean society.
In Gangnam Style, he sang about people pretending to be upper class and wealthy when they really aren't and here he shows how being a gentleman is so hard, because, well it's damn funny to let a girl smell your ass and eat so much rice cake and still be sexy.

Personally, I like this more than Gangnam Style, but I think I will be sick to death of it in a few weeks. I find listening to Psy more enjoyable when he releases mv's so for me, its harder to listen to his songs without watching the video.

Do you guys like Psy's new song?

Thanks for stopping by!

Review: Lunafly- Fly To Love

BUT WHY.

It happens to all K-Pop bands, they release a cavity inducing, aegyo-filled single that makes me want to barf.
I love Lunafly, but I was praying they wouldn't go down this aegyo-paved road.

They enticed me with great covers of English songs, which I think Sam (half English, half Korean) chose for the band to do. Yun (the youngest) has impeccable pronunciation which most k-pop idols should be envious of and Teo binds the whole team together with the amount of instruments he plays.

I've been watching them since their debut and was pretty upset they didn't promote their debut single "Superhero" (which by the way they released in Korean AND English) because it was so refreshing to hear on the K-pop scene.

The styling for this video is terrible ok, let's just leave it to that. The song itself is not that bad if we were in the 90's but since its becoming a trend, kudos to you guys for keeping up. The vocals are on point as they always are and I will always commend Yun's vocals. That kid is amazing. The MV as a whole is just so cheesy I want to cry.
Dear co-ordi noonas, never put make-up on the guys ever again.

Lunafly, for your next release, I want an improvement. None of this aegyo shit, you hear?!

Review: PHANTOM ft Verbal Jint- Come as you are.

SSSSSUUUIIIITTSSSS!

I think you guys should totally check out Phantom because they are a bloody amazing group who officially made their debut with their great single "Burning". However I was a fan from Hanhae's mixtapes and from their pre-debut single "Hole in your face". I suggest y'all check 'em out and have an eargasm from Sanchez and Hanhae's vocals.

Like seriously, I love these guys so much.
From the left: Kiggen, Sanchez and Hanhae.

The fact that these guys have debuted so recently is what amazes me because these guys don't seem like rookies at all. They're just so precious.

Ok. MV TIME.
Simple, classy and the suits. Oh my god the suits. I think I said this in my review for Infinite H's "Special Girl" that suits are the way to go. Such a simple, well fitted suit can make you look soooo hot.
The MV was nicely done, no flashiness, a lot of cute moments with the ladies...who need to eat. I can't really judge Korean women and their obsession for ant waists, since I want one too, but food is just too lovely.

Verbal Jint's little bit was so great too. Once he started singing I had to just catch my breath. His voice is just so smooth. You know those kind of voices that makes you feel like bathing in melted chocolate or sleeping on a giant marshmallow? No... oh. Well he makes me feel like that.

Every time I listen to the song I just-

The song's lyrics even motivated me to not wear make up for one day. That felt freaking good.

Thanks for stopping by!

Review: Justin Timberlake - Mirrors

LORD GOD HELP ME

*WIPES TEARS*

I had to wait all day to watch this you know. The way I rushed home to watch it. Ah.
Suit&Tie didn't affect me as much as the video for Mirrors did.

It was beautifully poignant, telling the story of a widow and the memories that she shared with her husband.
The camera and the mirror angles were beautifully done.
And then JT did that cool dance solo at the end, ah. I have to admit I hate rooms like that because I remember being stuck at the maze in London Dungeons for a good 20 minutes. That was horrible. But because Justin Timberlake is there, I'd gladly follow him.

I can't get my thoughts straight, let me just download the album now and sob at how I waited for this man for seven years to make a comeback.

SEVEN YEARS.

I wish I could draw.

I mean, I can draw, but I wish I could draw better... I've been keeping a few sketchbooks on me recently. I think I started keeping them because it would make my portfolio look better when I apply for uni and to see the development of my drawing techniques. So I have one sketchbook to draw guys I see on platforms and on the street or my friends during school or when we're out. The other one is to draw womenswear designs which I should probably put up on the fashion blog... so check 'em out!
I probably should've outlined these in pen... hmmph.

Extremely Racist Indiana Kid: "Why I'd hate to be Asian"

The video below has upset many in the Asian community, in it Samuel lists negative remarks against Oriental Asians. This was first a video uploaded on Facebook which was posted by someone else. On the information section of this video, the uploader posted this disclaimer:

The guy in the video is not me — Why I’d Hate To Be Asian (Totally Not Racist) is what this Samuel H. titled his video. He made the video public on Facebook and decided to belittle anyone who opposed his video with elementary school-like comments. He and his friends spammed my Facebook and called me a “raging faggot” and said he would “dismantle me socially” for standing up against him. He even sent me a message thanking me for posting this video. He said, “I was going to post it myself.”
I do not know him, but many friends of mine are very offended by this, so I decided to let the world know what he thinks. This video is not mine, but I felt it necessary for everyone to see. I enjoy sarcasm and joking around, but this does not cross many as a joke. Some people may cry freedom of speech or “it’s not a big deal” but I have been taught otherwise. Since I was raised this way I urge you to NOT CONTACT HIM. It is embarrassing enough for him now, there is no reason to riddle him with threats.
I- I cannot even put what I want to say into words.

As an Asian female I'm not entirely hurt by what he says - I mean its true, we are shorter than most and yes sometimes we do look the same and no, no not every Asian is Chinese, stop saying that. But to compile it into a list because you're bored and spread your hate? Dude, that's not cool.

Also sushi is Japanese and is like marmite, not everyone loves it and some people loathe it (like my mum) I mean if you think that's the only Asian food, you are missing out. Thai green curry, gyoza, hi-chew candy, kimchi, bibimbap, yu tiao, custard tarts, dim sum- I'm starving now, oh my.

You know what would be funny, if the company he works for is owned by an Asian.
I just hope that your current employer fires you and your future employer doesn't exist. I also hope no one rides your penis.

Review: B.A.P- One Shot

Y'ALL NEED BULLETPROOF VESTS. IF A DROP OF YOUR BLOOD SPILLS B.A.P, I WILL GO CRAY.
Fellow Warriors (I refuse to use the "Baby" fandom name) this is the B.A.P we have been waiting for. Yes "Crash" and "Stop It" was a cutesy interval, but we weren't hooked in to the fandom by aegyo. No. We were lured in by their kick-ass debut "Warrior" and their fierceness in "Power", we finally have that back, and for that let us take a breath of relief.

Now lets talk of the song and the MV.
From left to right: Youngjae, Daehyun, Himchan, Bang Yong Guk, Jongup and Zelo
The song is very dramatic however I feel the background audio doesn't really match parts of the actual song. Except the chorus, I find it didn't match the speed of Bang Yong Guk's rapping, it totally worked for Zelo's rap, but that kid has skill. I also find Youngjae's voice better for this song for some reason...I honestly love Daehyun but I really dig it when TS Ent. give Youngjae amazing parts in songs because he can wooorrrkkk it. I mean he isn't main vocal for nothing, even though Daehyun has pretty much taken that spot. I still prefer B.A.P's earlier work.

The stylists have finally listened to us and toned down the hair of our boys. Gone are the platinum blond locks which have been replaced by more natural-ish colours. CAN SOMEONE STOP DYEING ZELO'S HAIR. Even I'm 16 and my scalp hasn't been burned like his has. They also put our guys in more tank tops and leather. Sexxxaaayyy.
The dance is flawless. Except when baby Zelo went a bit crazy and thought he was a critter. I swear if he does that move in every live performance I would piss myself laughing...and be slightly concerned for how bruised his back must be.
I honestly love storyline MVs and B.A.P has done it well both times in "Crash" and now in "One Shot". Funny bits include smacking Jongup with a bat just to deliver a USB. Mate, just give the damn USB, and Yong Guk, what are you doing just standing there letting them get away?! Another funny bit is the useless scene in the beginning when the guys are pimpin in a boat:
"We're on a boat motherfuckas"

There's also those painful scenes of Youngjae getting beaten up. I think he was totally the best actor out of all of them. If you guys have watched "Rain Sound" their "dying faces" were atrocious. There was even face rubbing whilst they were dying. No bitch just die. Can we also get these guys bulletproof vests cos this is the second MV now where they die by being trigger happy, for Yong Guk, this is the third. Actually. Can we just not give these guys guns? You got that? We don't want a repeat of shit like this:
THEN THERE WAS THAT PLOT TWIST

The emotional turmoil was too much for me.

SAVING SUCKS

I need the God's will tbh.
My mother challenged me to save £800 since January for a trip to San Francisco to see the family. Now here's the thing. I could have had around £400. How? Well during Christmas I had £241.89 put into my account. Then during January I had £160 put into my account.
Now this is my dilemma. After the January sales I've always kept to around the £150 mark and not any more than that. IDK HOW THE FUCK I DO IT.
But today. My heart hurt even more when I found out how much I had left. £69.87
It was better than the 13p I had last November. But still. £69 is such an awkward number.
So let me retrace my steps. Here's what I've been spending my money on:

  • Jumpers- its bloody cold.
  • eBay- usually handbags, shirts and costume jewellery. It's 99p with free p&p but it all adds up.
  • Food- I blame the £5 Bahn Mi I recently ate in Hoxton (I regret nothing, that was the best sandwich ever).
  • January sales- no shit.
  • Art materials- watercolour pencils, sketchbooks, portfolio folders, paint
  • Fabrics and components- Gabardine, zips, buttons, more zips
  • Oyster card- FUCKING LONDON TRANSPORT IS EXPENSIVE YOU KNOW.
  • Chocolate- inflation has caused my freddo's to be 25p :'( I remember when they used to be 5p
  • Cinema- My friend made me watch Life of Pi for £13.65 how dare she.
  • Ice skating- I even had to pay for my sister *sigh*
OH FFS.

MONEY JUST LIKES TO FALL OUT OF MY POCKETS.

Let me just not go on eBay, go to the cinema, not use the train.

*think of your summer vacation Melissa*
*you don't want to stay in rainy London do ya?*

UPDATE: My mum just said "You should save up for uni as well" -rolls around in distress-

BEYONCE WORLD TOUR

UIABFRNJELAHGSLROUJZLKTBGO;HUSABTJK.GOHSUJBKGUS

Melissa's bucket list #30: See Beyonce live.

That wish is coming true very soon. So tickets are on sale on Saturday 23rd of February and the ticket range is from £55-£85 which isn't bad, I thought the prices would be a lot more. Another thing that's perfect is I'll probably be on study leave by the date of the concert. YAAAAY.

Watch when I'm on that ticketmaster rage next next saturday.

Review: Sistar19- Gone Not Around Any Longer

*FAPFAPFAPFAP* Ahem. Oh look they're using a table to wipe their asses!

Gone are the days of Sistar's obvious butt-in-yo-face dance moves and after the release of "Alone" they finally worked out how to be sensual and classy whilst gyrating their hips on my screen.
Almost two years after the release of "Ma Boy" which was amaaazing. I was left waiting for the day Hyorin and Bora to come back.

Sistar19 has captured the concept of "sexy" in my view, it was like Ga-In's "Bloom". Whilst being sexy, the video as a whole reflects the lyrics really well. The song differs from what was on the teaser, it is slower and the dubstep is replaced by a saxophone and a piano. I also liked how they used a clear table and moved on from the chairs they used in "Ma Boy" maybe next time they'll use a bench or a sofa or something. Hell they can use my bed, I gladly volunteer.

I do hope there's a dubstep version of the song available for download. The comeback stage is amazing for this song, Hyorin is an amazing vocalist and Bora was working that camera for all it's worth. I know a few people are complaining about the lack of Bora in the song but she definitely made her presence known by just flaunting her beautiful face and rapping like that *shivers*

They are so beautiful I just can't-

This explains how I feel when I get home, it also explains how I first felt when I heard this song:
*rolls around in sexual frustration*

Here's the first comeback stage for this beautiful song. Love these girls~

January Playlist

Hello people! Lets welcome the new year with my January playlist! Here's what I've been listening to non-stop this month~

Adorn- Miguel
I don't think this will come off my daily commute playlist just yet. This song is the sex. Actually, Miguel's album is THE SEX. Just listen and close your eyes...and then you'll eventually feel horny, if you watch the video then it just feels weird. I mean come on, there's cheerleaders and a girl with a pair of net tights on her head. If you can look past that, you should just download the whole album: "Kaleidoscope Dream"

Luxury- Azealia Banks
Azalea, Azealia, Azelia however the fuck you spell her name is one of my fashion legends right from her mermaid weave to her heart tattoo, I can listen to this woman endlessly whilst I do my work. Her mixtape "Fantasea" has been on non-stop since last year. You may have seen her on a recent ASOS campaign. Ugh, she's so fucking cool.

When I Was Your Man- Bruno Mars
My favourite song from "Unorthodox Jukebox" has got to be this one. The first time I heard it I did feel tears surfacing but for all the guys out there just remember this song if you've got someone that is special to you, because you want them to have the best time with you for as long as possible.

YOLO- The Lonely Island
lolololololololol Don't hate. If only there was more Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar on this song because they just looked really kawaii in the video. My Lonely Island collection will never stop growing. NEVER.

Angels- The xx
Whilst most youtube comments are about how this song is a perfect song to have sex to or how it reminds them of someone special, am I the only person who listens to the xx during a bubble bath? I don't think I'm weird for doing that, don't judge. The xx add a nice relaxing atmosphere to my bath times, actually the whole album Coexist does that - let me move away from talk of my bath time habits.

Tried to Walk- B1A4
I can't have a playlist without some K-Pop in it, come on, an absence of K-Pop is just unheard of. The music video is so pretty (except for some fashion choices- lets not talk about it) and the song perfectly fits in with the cold weather that we've been having lately, which is weird because spring is just around the corner- I hope. I also like how B1A4 have matured from their aegyo filled debut single to now, which is still sort of cutesy but doesn't give you diabetes.

Review: Jaejoong- Mine

WOAH THERE JAEJOONG.

Is there anyone else who thought this song could totally be an anime theme tune?
I'm not a huge fan of the song, nor the music video, I just like the fact that Jaejoong put the J-rock element into K-Pop and I appreciated some of the pretty badass scenes.

The song isn't extremely amazing, the chorus is fantastic, I just felt put off by the song because for me it just didn't seem to flow right, I'm just grateful Jaejoong didn't start some screamo shit.
I gotta point out my favourite lyric:
나를 비춘 태양마저 가리려 하지마
Don’t try to block the sun that shines on me

Now lets talk about the video.

Is Jaejoong facing an identity crisis?
First he wants to be Bane, then a rhino, then a monster from a Lady Gaga music video, then a blue-haired vampire and finally a fallen angel.
If he dressed up as Bane to anime expo he'll probably beat all the euro cosplayers just because he's the best looking Bane I've laid my eyes on.

To me, this  video is just a Jaejoong-fest just so we can look at how pretty he is. I think he's really pretty, I slight hate him for how pretty he is..

Thanks for stopping by!

We need sexy back.

2013 IS THE YEAR BABY.

So after a decade Destiny's Child is back. The video above is their new song "Nuclear" which will be performed at the Superbowl half time show. My thoughts? I'm slightly dissapointed. I thought they would bring the fab factor and make me feel like dancin', I just don't feel that its the right song for a comeback. After a decade I thought this would be the mother of all comebacks.

In other news, Justin Timberlake is gearing up for his comeback. I hope he doesn't dissappoint, I've been waiting for ages. I mean his last album was released in 2006, whilst the video below was made two years ago, this video just expresses how I feel. I NEED SEXY BACK.

And then there was this.

OH BABY. THE WAY I'LL PRE-ORDER THE HELL OUT OF THAT ALBUM.

So whilst I'm waiting, I'll just keep listening to Miguel's album "Kaleidoscope Dream"
